Community Partnership
Being part of a community means more than merely working or living in a
city. To us, it means participating in community events, supporting
local groups, and giving back to our communities through service.
Cannon is an active partner both locally and globally.
In 2010, Cannon took the idea of community outreach one step further and
created the "Well Worth It" Campaign, through which Cannon raises
awareness and funds for clean drinking water projects around the globe.
As engineers, planners, and surveyors, we got into this industry to
build things and make a difference in the world. And, we do: Designing
and constructing needed infrastructure projects in the communities in
which we live. However, to affect lives on a global scale requires a
different level of effort. To know that millions of people live without
water - one of the basic necessities and something we take for granted -
is mind-blowing. That is why, in November of 2010, Cannon decided to
take initiative and begin the "Well Worth It" campaign. In less than
two months, through a grass roots effort, we raised over $10,000 through
donations, enough to build two wells in Ethiopia, through the charitable
organization Charity: Water.
In 2011, we've decided to step up our game and reach out to our local community to raise $15,000 - enough to build 3 water wells.

And, yes, we have checked into Charity.Water as a charitable
organization and believe they are a trust-worthy organization. They
received an "A" grade from the group Charity Watch, an organization set
up specifically to research and rank charitable organizations. Part of
the reason we selected Charity:Water as the organization to sponsor was
based on the how much of every donation is given to the water projects:
100% of public donations. They can do this because they have a group of
private donors that cover the operating expenses. Want to verify for
yourself? We would too, so click here:

Rhinestones for Water
On October 20, 2011, Cannon employees, along with their friends and family, gathered in the SLO office to drink some wine, eat some great food, and get an early jump on their holiday shopping! Hundreds of jewelry pieces were available for purchase with $10 of every purchase benefiting Cannon’s Well Worth It Campaign.
People mingled in “Loosie’s Lounge,” perusing necklaces, bracelets, earrings, scarves, and shirts, with wine and snacks in-hand. It was a casual, fun evening which gave those in attendance, an opportunity to shop for a cause.
“Wine and jewelry are a dangerous combination,” said Laurie Fox jokingly, Project Coordinator for the Santa Monica office. She was the one who provided all of the jewelry forthis fundraising event.

Laurie continued, “The people who work at Cannon are so generous, that it seemed like a fun idea to have a jewelry party to support the Campaign efforts.” And it was indeed a successful event! In all, the evening raised $700 in donations to the Well Worth It Campaign. But Rhinestones for Water didn’t stop there.
After the success of the first jewelry party, Laurie has continued hosting parties to benefit the campaign and has currently raised a total of over $2,500! Keep up the good work Laurie!
Cannon's Well Worth It Garage Sale
On September 17, 2011, Cannon team members cleaned out their garages,
closets, attics to donate goods in support of Cannon's Well Worth It
Campaign. Members from the local community came out in droves scooping
up deals and helping fund a great cause. After all of the dust settled,
the final sales total came out to a little over $1,700!!! A huge "Thank
You" goes out to all who so generously gave donations of time, items and
money to make our garage sale a success-yeah clean water!
Thank You For Your Help!
On July 20, 2011 Cannon team members and the local community opened up their wallets and filled their bellies to raise awareness and funds for clean drinking water projects around the globe.
Over 165 table-ready Tri-Tip Dinners were prepared in an effort to raise funds to build two wells in Sub-Saharan Africa to provide clean drinking water for rural villages. Each dinner served a family of 4 to 6 people and came complete with a whole-trimmed tri-tip, beans, bread, and salad. By the end of the event, more than $4,300 was raised, providing enough funds to complete one well and start on a second.
A huge "Thank You" goes out to all who generously gave and came out to support of our initiative for clean water. Your local participation will have a global effect.
This is just one of many fundraising events Cannon is hosting this year to raise money to provide clean water to those who need it.
